March 13, 6-7:30pm, Book Passage Corte Madera, 51 Tamal Vista Blvd., Corte Madera- I will helping my friend Tessa Hulls celebrate the release of her debut comic memoir, Feeding Ghosts! This is a heavy book, and the process of working on it stretched Tessa’s mental health to the breaking point. I haven’t made my slide show yet, but I am planning on speaking directly about the experience of being a banned book author. We will each give a short presentation on the censorship of queer art and literature, then have a conversation with each other, followed by a reception. March 7, 7-8:30pm, CCA’s Blattner Hall, 75 Arkansas St, San Francisco- I will be speaking with Richard Meyer, an Art History Professor from Stanford and author of Outlaw Representation: Censorship and Homosexuality in Twentieth-Century American Art. I donated a signed copy of Gender Queer as well as some limited edition prints and zines :) I am going to try and attend at least the first hour of this event. The raffle itself will take place in a vintage shop called Strange Constellation, a Black owned store which hosts a lot of cool events.
